Car offered at:
www.xjc.com.au/1975-Jaguar-XJ4.2C-USA-for-sale.htm
Sellers description:
1975 Jaguar XJ4.2C - Chassis No: 2J1250BW
Regency Red 1975 Jaguar XJ6C, 250th RHD XJ6C built.
Includes Heritage Trace Certificate, stating it was dispatched to Henly's Ltd in 5/75. It was imported to US on a one time personal exemption by Jaguar specialist Graig Hinton in 1986, in the name of his 94 year old Mother in Law, who never drove it.
Graig documented it was being built by Jaguar in 1974, so was imported and titled as a 1974. It has English Bumpers, SU Carbs, but is exempt from California emissions, and has letters of exemption from EPA and DOT, includes all import documents, and copy of previous English registration.
I purchased it in 1991, showing 84943 miles, and began a $20,000 restoration, with new floors, expert metal and paint work. Vinyl top was removed and metal finished. First quality paintwork included over 30 coats of hand rubbed Dupont lacquer. It has always been Regency Red (Burgundy); but left factory with red leather which has been changed to burgundy to match paint. New headliner installed; all upholstery, including re-veneered burled walnut dash, done by a Rolls Royce specialist.
Car was driven and, overheated, so I checked head stud torque; one snapped due to years without antifreeze. The engine and automatic transmission were removed. Due to problems with Ft. Lauderdale downtown development, I closed my Jaguar restoration shop, and put car inside under cover for about 20 years.
I have recently installed a good engine and automatic transmission, so car run and drives well. It has custom engine coolant tank of heavy steel. Lacquer paint has a few chips from storage, and one tiny dent -is otherwise gorgeous.
Car is rust free. I have added a manual pedalbox, with clutch pedal, in case you want to change to manual gearbox.
Very original, except I fitted an XJ12 grille. Present mileage shows 84959.
This is an exceptional XJC, and an excellent buy. It is in Sebring, Florida Price is $15,000,US.
